The Fall of Nhode
Given the confusion over the events in Nhode, the Zexen Federation has decided to make an inquiry into what exactly has happened. We have a few reports from merchants who had been in the city, hoping to establish trade routes into other worlds. What we have determined is that Nhode was attacked by OSTA forces; we have also determined there are an unknown number of escape routes, leading to smaller versions of the underground city.

What we do not know:
  • How many people were in Nhode and where they are escaping to.

  • How many escape routes lead from Nhode.

  • The nature of the attack; was Nhode destroyed or has OSTA intended to occupy it?

  • The extent of damage to ANTI.

If anyone can provide information, the Knights of Zexen would be in your debt. We are concerned about our merchants that had been intending to venture from Nhode to other worlds, and have not accounted for all of them.

Locked to non-OSTA people.

We have further concerns. As of yet, we are not certain whether Nhode is an important strategic point in controlling the portals from world to world. Given that OSTA unleashed the monsters, it seems likely that if control of Nhode equates to control of the portals, this is an unacceptable strategic situation. It is worth looking into it; I intend to find out what I can.

Private.

This is the last thing that we needed. This may have briefly dampened the war between the Federation and the Grasslands, but it may not last. The Council is not in good spirits, either.

Once more unto the breach, I suppose.

Good morning! I may not be the best person with all of this, but let me make a stab at them. I'm sure I can come up with something, yes?

1) I'm afraid I don't have a count of the numbers in Nhode. I don't truly have a count of the people in ANTI or OSTA either I'm afraid, I do know that myself, Vyse, and a boy named Volcan were escaping recently, so...

2) Quite a number from what I heard last. Nhode is... It's kind of like an anthill, with the primary area leading off to a number of smaller, more hidden areas.

3) To my knowledge, I believe Nhode was destroyed. At least, that was the intention.

4) Zak has supposedly been captured. I'm afraid I don't know details on the damage to ANTI.

Let me see what other information I can dig up for you, while I'm at it?

This is all disconcerting. At least Nhode will likely be difficult for them to entirely control (or destroy), so a fair number of people should be able to escape. How we can help them seems more troublesome; OSTA clearly has military resources.

[Filtered to non-OSTA people]

You have pointed out quite an interesting issue. If OSTA does take control of the portals, the chaos will be immense.

Perhaps it would be best to find a way to shut the portals down until further notice.

Re: [Filtered to non-OSTA people]

I don't mean to be strident, but that does not seem like a good idea to me. OSTA clearly has their own methods of traversing the worlds that are larger and more reliable than ANTI's. If we shut down the portals just because we are afraid of adding to that already significant advantage, we will lose the only advantage we have.

Re: [Filtered to non-OSTA people]

I have to agree. The portals have to be maintained. But... we need a firmer hold over them.

Re: [Filtered to non-OSTA people]

That is going to be hard, now that they are so dispersed. The vast majority of the portals were in the core nhode, from what I understand, and now they're buried under tons of rock.

I'm trying to maintain contact with as many refugees as possible, but I know I'm not getting through to more than a handful.

Re: [Filtered to non-OSTA people]

That is worrisome.

On the other hand... Has OSTA made further moves?

Re: [Filtered to non-OSTA people]

From what we've been allowed to see, they mostly seem to be gloating. This is pretty standard villain fare, in my experience.

So worried about them grabbing the lines of supply; it's cute.

Just a suggestion: Nhode is a strategic non-thing. Live in it, destroy it, rent it out for nice group rates--or forget it, in fine. They only built it because they want you keeping an eye on what you can see, rather than what's really going on behind their backs. It's all used up once you stop paying attention and look for the strings.

"Cute" is hardly how I would describe it.

Nonetheless, I see what you are suggesting. However, are you suggesting OSTA or ANTI is pulling the strings - or both?
